Next Concert

Concert Triumph An enthusiastic, capacity audience joined NSO Saturday 5th July in St Mary's Church, Nottingham for the final concert of the 24/25 season. The first half featured Debussy's impressionist masterpiece Nocturnes, based on de Regnier's Poèmes anciens et romanesques (Poems Ancient and Romantic), and Richard Strauss' profound Four Last Songs, movingly performed by soprano Nina Bennett (pictured). Filling the second half was Mussorgsky's mighty Pictures at an Exhibition, a musical portrait of a walk around an exhibition of works by Viktor Hartman that Mussorgsky visited in 1847. A fitting end to the season.

Summer Holiday NSO now takes it's Summer break. The 25/26 season starts with a bang on 22nd November 2025 with a concert of orchestral favourites. Kicking off the evening will be Verdi's driving Force of Destiny overture, followed by Mahler's lyrical Blumine, originally a movement in his 1st symphony, but excised by Mahler for reasons that remain obscure. The third work in the programme is Vaughan Williams evocative Fantasia on a theme by Thomas Tallis, before the concert finishes with Mahler's mighty Symphony No.1, 'The Titan', but, of course, without Blumine. Tickets are available already online via TicketSource, by email - tickets@nottinghamsymphony.org.uk, and by phone 07733 312322. Tickets will also be available on the door.
