March Concert Review An enthusiastic audience of almost three hundred joined NSO on Saturday 7th March 2026 for the Orchestra's second concert of the 25/26 season. Opening the evening was Grace Williams' Penillion, a four movement orchestral suite written in 1955. Williams is generally regarded as Wales' most notable female composer and was the first British woman to orchestrate a feature film. The two other works in the programme were Brahms ever-popular Violin Concerto, played by accomplished performer Gina McCormack (pictured) and Prokofiev's mighty 5th Symphony. A night to remember!
Next Concert Why not join the Orchestra on Saturday 9th May in St Mary's Church, Nottingham, for an evening of orchestral hits. The programmes starts with Vaughan Williams ever popular overture to The Wasps, followed by Dvorak's Cello Concerto, played by one of the UK's most versatile cellists, Jonathan Aasgaard. The second half features the gorgeously tuneful Symphony in D minor by César Franck. Tickets: general admission £18; concessions (60+) £15; under 18 years and students £6. Family tickets are available for £36 (for 2 adults and 2 children). Early bird discounts are available for purchases made more than 1 month in advance of the concert date. Available online via TicketSource.
