Concert Review NSO made its way to St Mary Magdalene Church, Newark on Saturday 4th July for an early evening concert of classical favourites and orchestral film music. Given the date the programme featured many pieces chosen to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the American declaration of independence. On the programme were Fanfare for the Common Man and Appalachian Spring by Aaron Copland, George Gershwin's Cuban Overture and An American in Paris, the Adagio for Strings by Samuel Barber, and music from the films Jurassic Park, Chicken Run and How to Train Your Dragon. A great night, much appreciated by the enthusiastic audience.
Summer Break The Orchestra now takes its Summer break before starting the 26/27 season with a concert at St Mary's Church, Nottingham on Saturday 7th November at 7:30pm. The programme will feature Richard Strauss' Death and Transfiguration, the Ruth Gipps Horn Concerto played by rising star Chloe Harrison (pictured), and Sibelius' mighty Symphony No.1.
